PLEASE LOOK AT THE ARKANSAS RURAL ED ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP THAT IS DUE TOMORROW—APRIL 6.  THIS IS FOR ANY STUDENT WHOSE PARENT WORKS FOR THE SCHOOL.

                The time is upon us for scholarship applications for the Culp-Smith Scholarship.  I have indicated below the eligibility requirements.
Here are the eligibility requirements:

A student may apply for the scholarship only if he or she is a graduating senior:

  1.  of Ashdown High School, DeQueen High School, Dierks High School, Horatio High School, Nashville High School, or Mineral Springs High School;
  2.  who will be attending an institution of higher learning including but not limited to a college or university, a vocational or technical training institution, or a trade school; and
  3.  the student, either or both of the student's parents, or the student's legal guardian resides in the zip code assigned to the City of Lockesburg, Arkansas, which is currently 71846, with residency established in the student's application by submission of a utility bill that depicts the residential address of the student, the student's parent(s), or the student's legal guardian.

            All applications are to be online.  The applications deadline is April 1st.  No exceptions to the deadline.  (Sadly, each year someone contacts me after the deadline and we cannot accept them.) Students should go to the ARCF website to apply.  Have them go to ARCF.org and click on "Students"  then click "Student overview" or "Browse Scholarship"  then scroll down to and click on "Graduating High School Seniors."  The scholarship is listed under "Southwest"  At several points they may begin an application for the "Mary E. Culp Robert Louis Smith Memorial Scholarship Endowment"   They will need to set up an account an begin the application process. If they have questions there are contact numbers on the website.  And of course they may call me or email me.  My contact info is in the signature block below.

            We are looking forward to seeing the applications and review another group of worthy students to receive this generous scholarship.  ($2,000/ year, renewable each year after furnishing grade and current registration information.)

            Please let me know if there are any questions.

We also are accepting applications until May 1 for the Tech Scholars program.  Tech Scholars are students with an ACT Composite score of 20 and a 3.25 GPA. The program gives students an opportunity to develop leadership skills with an emphasis on service to the campus and community. Students accepted to the program will live in the new dorms that will open in fall! They will receive a $500 scholarship to go toward housing costs.

SAU Tech is an open enrollment college, so we are an option for your students who do not meet ACT scores at other campuses. It is not too late to apply for admission, for scholarships, or to the Tech Scholars program!!

If you have students who would like to schedule a campus tour or have any questions, please let me know!  Thanks for all that you do to create higher education opportunities for your students!
