Mrs. Hanney's 5th graders took a leap into science by crafting parachutes to explore the wild world of gravity, air resistance, and surface area. Their mission? To design a parachute that would gently deliver a skydiver right onto the bullseye, proving that even in science, landing on target is a real skill!

More 5th grade science--Mrs. Hanney's 5th graders took a leap into science by crafting parachutes to explore the wild world of gravity, air resistance, and surface area.

Parachute Design: A new skydiving business has launched in your town, but they’re struggling to land their skydivers accurately. This is leading to high costs in fees and unwanted landings in people's yards. Your task is to assist them in finding the ideal parachute by designing a prototype that consistently hits the target. Mrs. Unruh's 5th grade science class is eager to tackle this challenge.

It is crucial to emphasize the following: When dropping off your child in the mornings, kindly ensure that your child is safely on the sidewalk before you proceed to drive away. This measure is essential for your child's safety, as accidents can occur in an instant. We appreciate your attention to this matter and encourage you to take a moment to confirm that your child is ON THE SIDEWALK and clear of the vehicle before departing.

Mrs. Hanney’s class dove into the wild world of Ecosystem Lab Stations this week! The students tackled a variety of tasks while getting their hands dirty in the name of science. They were busy dissecting owl pellets (because who doesn’t want to play with owl leftovers?), constructing food webs that would make even Spider-Man jealous, and mastering science vocabulary like it was a spelling bee on steroids!

More 5th grade science with Mrs. Hanney's class making Marble Mazes.

Mrs. Hanney’s science classes engaged in a STEM project where students designed a marble maze representing a food chain. After completing their mazes, they showcased their work to fellow students, challenging them to demonstrate the flow of energy by navigating the marble through the correct organisms.

Have you bought your Father Daughter Dance tickets yet? It will be next Tuesday. Come join the fun.
